Iacona Riccardo

Reporter, author and anchor man

Reporter, author and anchor man, he’s considered one of the most authoritative interpreters of Italian investigative journalism. Born in Rome, he graduated in performing arts at the Faculty of Literature and Philosophy of Bologna University, making his debut as an assistant film director. At the end of the 80s, he began his television experience on RAI 3. He quit RAI TV to follow the famous Italian journalist Michele Santoro on Italia1 (Berlusconi’s TV channel). He’s author – with Ruotolo and Formigli – of popular TV programs (Moby’s and Moby Dick). In 1999 he went back to RAI TV – always with Michele Santoro – where he worked on two political talk-shows, Circus and Sciuscià. He’s author and director of various reportages which investigate Italy in its different facets, handing back a clear and sincere image. The series “Italians”, with “To the bride and groom”, “Long live the Market” and “Long live the Research”, wins the challenge of full coverage TV ratings in prime time as well as numerous awards, including the Ilaria Alpi Award and Flajano Prize. Since 2009 he’s author and presenter of “Presadiretta”, the coverage program that for 6 years oversees RAI 3 Sunday night, shifting with Report. In recent years he has contributed to the national debate on violence against women and femicide, challenging especially with the impenetrable universe of prostitution and its consumers. His two latest books “If these are men” (Chiarelettere 2012) and “End Users” (Chiarelettere 2014) focus on these issues.
