On the basis of the findings emerged during the debate on the thematic pillar “Social inclusion” held in the first edition of the Social Cohesion Days, the session focused on the Italian case. During the event the main criticalities of the Italian welfare state with respect to social inclusion have been highlighted. Furthermore, some signs of novelty that emerge in the public debate have been discussed.
Among the criticalities it was emphasized how the Italian welfare system, at the net of what has been realized through the spending on pensions, is not able to realize an intense redistribution. That has been indirectly confirmed also by the high and increasing level of absolute poverty that exists in our country…
